Big Sur, California – the name evokes the grandeur of a spectacular and hidden rim of the earth accessed by a drive on California’s scenic Highway One. Post Ranch is the ideal romantic destination to celebrate life.
Post Ranch Inn is located on a rugged cliff overlooking the blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur, near majestic state parks, beaches and waterfalls. Recognized and awarded as one of the top U.S. luxury resorts and the only hotel in the famous Big Sur with an ocean view, Post Ranch is the perfect destination to celebrate a honeymoon, anniversary, or special occasion or simply to get away.
The hotel’s organic architecture embraces the striking beauty of the coastline. Each structure on the 100-acre property reflects dramatic lines and contemporary styling yet blends easily with the landscape. In addition to their distinctive look, the dwellings themselves represent an innovative green building approach, featuring bio-structure architecture and using natural materials of glass, wood, stone and COR-TEN steel, and, when possible, passive solar heat. The architects’ design was intended so onlookers feel a part of nature, not just observers of it. Every environmental aspect was carefully considered: for example, the earth-sheltered guesthouses capture passive heating and cooling, and the small footprint of the stilts which support the tree houses protects the fragile roots of the ancient redwood and oak trees.
Post Ranch Inn has 40 architecturally innovative guest rooms and suites placed along the private ridge that parallels the blue Pacific. Each guest accommodation offers a unique and luxurious experience with views of ocean and mountain scenery. The organic hues, textures, and extensive collection of original art inside the rooms merge with the scenic beauty of the outdoors.
Guests experience the vast Pacific sunset from the renowned Sierra Mar Restaurant. World-class cuisine is prepared under the artful direction of Executive Chef Craig von Foerster. The daily changing, four-course dinner menu showcases local, organic and seasonal fare. Dishes created by Chef von Foerster feature French, Mediterranean and regional California influences with a smattering of Asian, Indian and North African flavors.
«A beautiful place on earth where the outside colors of sun, sea and mountains harmonically flow into the rooms.»
The Resort offers 40 individually designed guest rooms and suites. Some feature an outdoor spa tub and a large terrace.
SPA & THERAPIES
Award-winning spa treatments are designed to relax and rejuvenate using the healing properties of nature. Treatments are done in guest rooms or at the spa, including in a couple’s spa suite. An extensive menu of modalities is available. Among the wide range of nurturing treatments available at the spa, there is the very unique Shaman Journey session. In the sacred and safe space of the medicine wheel, a shaman engages the forces of nature and the ancient wisdom of the ancestors to help create lasting changes for physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Two therapeutically heated pools, each with an infinity edge, offer spectacular places to soak and take in the magnificent seascape. The swimming pool is located on a sunny knoll in a meadow with mountain views and is perfect for a refreshing plunge, swimming laps or relaxing poolside.
The full menu of spa treatments unites guests with elements of nature, utilizing all organic products, supporting local businesses and recycling for renewable energy. Certified organic linens and skin care products, eco-friendly detergent and filtered laundry water for irrigation are examples of green standards. Inspired by local history and community, the Post Ranch Spa offers signature spa products to help nature nurture guests. These aromatherapy blends are combined with our flower essence remedies for massage oils, body butters and bath salts. Essences of selected Big Sur flowers are solar-infused in spring water, offering the flowers’ vibrational imprints.
Sierra Mar Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Complimentary breakfast is served exclusively for overnight guests, with lunch and dinner available with reservations to the public.
Complimentary activities include yoga and meditation classes, nature hikes and star gazing with a computerized 12-inch Meade telescope. Post Ranch has one of the largest hotel telescopes in the U.S., and Big Sur has some of the clearest atmospheric conditions for viewing the stars, nebulas, and even the rings of Saturn.
