Healing Focus

At Dharana at Shillim, healing is perceived as a journey that integrates ancient wisdom with modern science. Rooted in the philosophy of the Panchamahabhutas (the five elements), its wellbeing approach follows five holistic pathways designed to restore balance, promote longevity, and enhance overall vitality.

The retreat focuses on preventative medicine, using comprehensive health evaluations to design personalized wellness programs. Physical restoration enhances strength, flexibility, and overall vitality, while healing nutrition follows Ayurvedic principles, using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. Emotional wellbeing is nurtured through emotional balance therapies, including personalized counseling and behavioral profiling. Spiritual harmony is encouraged through yoga, pranayama, and meditation, fostering mindfulness and inner peace.

Dharana at Shillim stands out for its integration of advanced techniques such as genomic studies, neuro-reactive training, and innovative therapies like cold plunge, infrared, and oxygen therapy. This holistic approach empowers guests to achieve long-term health, balance, and rejuvenation.

Sustainable & Social Practices

  • Zero Waste & Plastic-Free Commitment – Food waste is composted to enrich the soil, single-use plastics are eliminated and biodegradable food wraps and garbage bags are used. Glass water bottles replace plastic to promote sustainability.
  • Water Conservation – Rainwater harvesting pits and two reservoirs store 18,000km of water annually. Water is sourced from the Pawana Dam and filtered on-site for retreat use.
  • Renewable & Clean Energy – 1,443 solar panels generate 2,000 KWH units daily, covering 20% of energy needs. Diesel systems have been replaced with electric heat pumps and LPG-fired generators, reducing 90,000 liters of diesel consumption annually.
  • Conservation & Reforestation – Thousands of trees and 461 rare and endemic plant species have been planted to restore biodiversity. The goal is to convert 10% of open land into dense forest by 2030 and eliminate invasive species.
  • Community Empowerment– Sustainable livelihood programs train women in organic farming, agroforestry, and natural fertilization techniques. A Kitchen Garden Program and vocational training in crochet and quilt-making aim to support 5,000+ families by 2030.
  • Earth-To-Table Nutrition– Locally grown, organic, and seasonal ingredients such as healing herbs, vegetables, and medicinal plants are used to create nourishing meals, fostering a holistic and sustainable wellness experience.
